The people of Ayamelum Local government area and commuters have been trapped by a heavy flood disaster that occurred in the area.
Investigation showed that the flood disaster was caused by heavy rainfalls that overflew Igbariam-Ezu River bank.
It was discovered by our newsmen that the flood disaster submerged Onitsha-Otuocha-Omor- Adani road, leading to Ayamelum Local government, which threw residents into distress.
Commuters were seen stranded at the bus stops in Anaku with little or no means of transportation as motorists who did not want to be trapped inside the flood avoided the road.
Commenting on the incident after on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by the flood disaster by boat, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum Local government area, Chief Livinus Onyenwe lamented that the incident destroyed their entire farmlands, submerged buildings, trapped their people and urged the National Emergency Management Agency and the Anambra State government to come to their said by assisting victims of the ugly incident with relief materials to cushion the effects of the disaster on them.
