South-South Governor Hands Over Power to Deputy, Notifies State Assembly.
Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has informed the State Assembly of his plan to embark on a three-week annual leave.
In a letter dated March 10, 2025, and addressed to the Speaker, Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Otu stated that his leave would begin on March 11 and end on April 8, 2025.
The governor, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, wrote: “I wish to inform you of my intention to proceed on a three-week annual leave, commencing from Tuesday, March 11, to Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
“During this period, I will be unavailable to attend to my official duties.
“In accordance with constitutional requirements, I am required to notify the House of Assembly of my intention to proceed on annual leave.
